Balancing time may be one of the toughest challenges for everyone. In this busy world, you may find it difficult to insert some leisure into your busy workaholic life. As a banker/food blogger, I try to make my lifestyle flexible and balanced as much as I can. Given the opportunity to be invited in various restaurants and events somehow make it easier for me to combine leisure and work together.
One evening, OpenRice invited me to one of their food trips in Peri-Peri Grill House. God is definitely in control of my schedule for making most of my food invites/events after working hours. Along my journey as The Food Scout, I am slowly but surely seeing how God is taking charge of my schedule. He assures me in this verse in the book of Jeremiah, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
As one of the visible results of His promise for me, He gave me another opportunity to try out this restaurant, Peri-Peri Grill House.
Peri-Peri Grill House is different from other restaurants simply because of its type of cuisine, African-Portugese. Honestly, I am not familiar with African dishes. Narrow knowledge of how African foods are. So it was hard for me to compare their dishes with other restaurants that serve similar dishes.
The first appetizer served to us was this Crispy Taco Platter (Php 125). Choose to get this platter if you are fond of tacos or nachos. Crispier than nachos and healthier too. The dip at its center is a mix of ground beef, tomatoes, green lettuce and cheese. First plate was fantastic for me. I’ve been munching on Crispy Taco Platter from start to end of our dinner.
Cheesy Quesadilla (Php 230), a simple healthy starter for everyone. Freshly grilled tortilla with shredded chicken and melted cheese inside. Its dip is optional, either you can use sour cream or salsa for it. For best tasting dips, I always try to mix and match (just like in dressing up). 🙂 What I did for the dip is to mix sour cream and salsa to create a flavorful one.
Grilled Shrimp Salad wouldn’t taste good without its 3-fruits dressing. The citrus taste of the dressing and the real sliced oranges in the salad make the salad special. Every heavy meal should always be accompanied by a bowl of salad to define ‘balance’ in eating.
Speaking of heavy, this plate is heavy-looking with the jam-packed Peri-Peri Chicken. Classic chicken of Peri-Peri won’t be as good as adding their very own Peri-Peri sauce. The first photo above shows the 3 types of sauce you can use. Expect all three sauces to be s-p-i-c-y for Peri-Peri means, the chili used as an ingredient to produce hot & spicy flavors.
5 side dishes to choose from: Coleslaw (Php 38), Whipped Potatoes (Php 45), Buttered Corn & Carrots (Php 38), Creamy Spinach (Php 45) and Vegetable Medley (Php 60).
Pretty presentation of Seafood Marinara (Php 355) was not only good for the eyes but also for the tummy. The blend of marinara sauce gave a kick to the pasta, joined together with my favorite seafoods – shrimps, squid and clams. I would personally order Seafood Marinara when I go back to Peri-Peri Grill House. One plate is enough for 1-2 persons.
Creamy Dil Pasta, the last dish I tried. I chose to get a small bite of this pasta because of my full stomach. I was a weakling that time and couldn’t take it anymore. According to my other table-mates, they found the creamy taste toothsome, and not overly creamy.
New Found Friend, Diane. Our conversation was so juicy and funny. Also, our common friends kept us more connected. 🙂
Thank you for inviting me Leah and Mara! 🙂 Looking forward to the next one!
African-Portugese dishes weren’t that alien when it comes to taste and flavor. I suggest you try to step out of the usual cuisines and load your stomach with foods from Peri-Peri Grill House.
Pray, Eat and Love.
