Having a plate of Moroccan food may not be as common as Japanese, Chinese, Italian or Filipino cuisine for us, Filipinos. When I ask you your top 3 favorite cuisines, most likely Moroccan cuisine is not part of the list. One basic reason I don’t include Moroccan cuisine as part of my favorites is the fact that I don’t commonly see this type of cuisine around malls, food courts, hangout places and the like. Rarely you can find Moroccan food here in Manila. 

The difficulty of finding Moroccan cuisine is now solved. Kasbah Moroccan Cuisine, a well-known restaurant in Boracay, is now here in Manila! 

Last August 16 was the official media launch of Kasbah Moroccan Cuisine. Various personalities from the media industry were there to celebrate with Kasbah’s grand launch. A buffet style dining was prepared for us. Kasbah Moroccan favorites lined up in one corner buffet table to feed us. 

Hummus, the dip I normally get when I dine in middle eastern restaurants. PIta plus their smooth-textured hummus can already satisfy my Moroccan cravings. 

Tabbouleh (Php 350/sharing) Rate: 4/5

 A middle eastern salad made of bulgur, tomatoes, mint, parsley, onion and garlic, added with some lemon slices for a twist. 

Lamb Tagine (Php 685/solo; Php 1025/sharing) Rate: 4/5

Chicken Brochette (Php 395) Rate: 4/5 Merguez Sausage (Php 395) Rate: 3/5

 I wouldn’t forget how Merguez Sausage flamed up my throat. It was extremely spicy to begin with! The sausages also had halloumi cheese and red peppers in it.

Baklava (Php 245) Rate: 4/5

 For dessert, I had a bar of Baklava (Php 245), pastry that was invented during the Ottoman Empire. Layers of sweets, piled up to shoot straight directly to one’s mouth. 

 

Glasses of wine were being offered throughout the night. 

 

Entertainment began while everyone was enjoying their food. Kasbah’s belly dancer showed us how to groove the middle eastern way. 

Don’t settle with the typical cuisines you visit. For a change, I recommend Kasbah Moroccan Cuisine. The food alone isn’t only what would satisfy you but even the ambiance. The cozy mood lights and colorful pillows add up to the whole dining experience at Kasbah Moroccan Cuisine.
