Promenade is one of the malls I frequently visit. Part of the main reason is because of the convenience. But aside from that, the Greenhills area is “love”. There are numerous things you can do there. That includes the unique establishments to visit, the bargain shopping, the movie theatre that has 2d and 3d, and of course, the restaurants. Evidently, there is no doubt I can somehow memorize almost all stores inside the small 2-storey mall. With that said, I noticed that one of the restaurants in Promenade (Coco Asian), was replaced by another Asian restaurant.
Weeks ago, I, together with The Foodie Club, was blessed to be invited in the newly opened Shiok. I’ve been hearing great feedback from some friends about this restaurant since they also have a branch in Fort. So what’s a reason for me to decline the privilege of having dinner at Shiok right? Hence, without having second thoughts, I went straight to Shiok, Promenade right after work.

Shiok is not just another Asian restaurant you can find in town. Yes, it is located at the Food Court. But don’t let that deceive you. They may not give the best restaurant ambiance but in terms of quality food, I believe you would want to take a peek of my Shiok Top Picks:

Nonya Laksa (Php 325) – Be prepared when you take your first sip. Boy, it was spicy! This spicy coconut-y soup included noodles, fresh prawns, fish cake, tofu, topped with laksa leaves. If you are a heavy eater, you may finish this one big bowl of noodle soup. But normally, this is good for sharing.

Spicy Pineapple Fish (Php 150) – When I tried this fish dish, my eyes smiled and told my friends, “this is my favorite for the night!”. I liked how crispy the fish was on the outside yet steamed and fresh inside. In addition to that, the sweet and sour pineapple sauce made it more tasty. I was unaware of the price so when I asked the chef how much it is, I couldn’t believe it was only Php150 and it was good for sharing.

Premium Hainanese Chicken – If you are in search for the best Hainanese Chicken in town, don’t forget to include Shiok’s recipe on your list. What made it different from other Hainanese Chicken? The answer is their imported chicken. If you compare it to the local version of Hainanese, the premium imported meat brought out more flavor and tenderness. One of the bloggers I was with was not into anything chicken at all. However, her dislike towards eating chicken changed when she tasted the Premium Hainanese Chicken of Shiok. And I am serious with that!

Fried Fish with Eggplant (Php 180) – The fried fish was mixed with a special Cantonese oyster sauce. The thick textured sauce made the dish heavier for me. Considering its weight for my stomach, I still adored this recipe. Unbelievably affordable and flavorful. used cream dory as its main ingredient to Shiok create the special fried fish recipe. Personally, I think it is wise to use cream dory for your recipes because the price does not overpower its quality. It is actually an affordable main ingredient for your chosen fish dishes, especially for fillet recipes.

Baked Beef Brisket Curry (Php 250) – Looks like baked lasagna from a far, but as you look closely, it is a baked edition of Beef Curry. Cheese lovers wouldn’t want to stop on taking a munch on this. Especially once you feel the tenderness of the beef. It was totally chewy and soft. Add value to your money as you can see, rice is already included.

Nasi Goreng Ikan Bilis – I didn’t include the price since I don’t think it is already out in the market. Probably, they will be introducing this delectable fried rice soon. Don’t be distracted by the spoon of sweet chili sauce. That is actually what adds good flavor to the fried rice. Even without any dish, the fried rice is tasty as it is. Btw, spot the dilis on the rice. Another ingredient that defined more flavor. 🙂

Pisang Goreng – Last but not the least, Shiok’s dessert shouldn’t be missed out. Who loves Milo here? Well, I do! 🙂 Milo powder and gula melaka (sugar) was used to top over the banana fritters with vanilla ice cream. This is another simple yet genius recipe. I won’t be surprised if more restaurants will copy the recipe. On the side, I just had a memory of Flaming Wings’ Wicked Oreos at first glance. Both have their unique and memorable taste.

Thank you to Shiok for serving us more than 12 dishes! That was such a food trip. 🙂
Absolutely had another cheerful night, filled with stories and ‘chikas’ with The Foodie Club. I couldn’t wait to go back and this time, with my family. 🙂
Pray, Eat and Love.
