For every trending topic, you’ll hear two different opposing opinions – positive and negative. 

Jollibee’s Pancake Sandwich pretty much made some noise in the Philippines’ breakfast scene. I asked several friends how the Pancake Sandwich from one of the biggest fast-food chain treated them, and I heard two opposing sides, contradicting each other.

As for me, I would only state my words – in other words, blog – if I have tried the product for myself. I wouldn’t dare to throw out words and “advertise” it without immersing my taste-buds to it. Exactly what I did with Jollibee’s bravest product, Pancake Sandwich.

From 6:00am to 11:00am, the pancakes are all wrapped up to be sold. O, who wakes up earlier than me, passed by the Jollibee branch near my house and got me the Pancake Sandwich for breakfast. How sweet of him to bring breakfast straight to my house dining table. 

Opened the enclosed pancakes to see what’s inside for me. Sopping sunny side up egg on one pancake slab pounded with strips of ‘supposed to be’ crispy bacon that turned out soft and soggy, which I didn’t mind. Its melted and hardened cheese acted as its glue that pierced them all together. I didn’t know how to welcome this unusual breakfast sandwich so I didn’t have any expectations at all. It was hard to imagine the taste so I had to skip that part and bite in. 

Judging the sandwich by the way it looks? Not for this sandwich. Its beauty doesn’t rely on how it aesthetically appears for photos. One solid bite encapsulates the pleasure of having breakfast. Pancakes with bacon, cheese and egg, all mashing up together in my mouth turns it out as a sweet morning with all these breakfast favorites. 

I think it’s brilliant for Jollibee to take that fearless step of giving Filipinos another adventurous breakfast option. Big risk for the fast-food chain to launch an unusual sandwich. I give them a round of applause for their remarkable product.
