A random date with dad is what I remember when I think of Cafe Juanita. During my teenage years, I remember dad and I had a dinner date when mom was in the US for a business trip. I love walking down on memory lane, especially if it’s about remembering the good old days of my colorful youth. That was the quick memory I had when I visited Breakfast at Juanita’s, the breakfast wing of Cafe Juanita, also in Kapitolyo.
Breakfast spots are not necessarily only best in the morning. Even if the sun goes hiding, our appetite doesn’t pick the time for breakfast kind of food. I crave for tapsilog after a long day, just so you know. 😉
Breakfast at Juanita’s have gained our attention at its new spot adjacent to the first Cafe Juanita branch. Expecting a similar feel inside the store, we felt the familiar comfort of ‘undefined mixed-up of furniture and decors theme.’ Like any other Cafe Juanita, this breakfast joint have all the rare and hard-to-find collections of the owners. But then, they tried to be more modern with a fresher ambiance and feel.
The Food:
Breakfast Sampler (Php 310) Rate: 5/5 |
To give meaning to the breakfast of the champions, this is your choice. Breakfast Sampler serves you everything in small (yet enough) bites. If this is your first time to discover Breakfast at Juanita’s, I recommend this dish. Find out what your favorite is and come back with a full order next time.
Eggs Benedict on English Muffin (Php 189) Rate: 4/5 |
The always-looking-gorgeous egg dish Eggs Benedict on English Muffin is not extraordinary in the cafe yet worth taking a good try. Open faced english muffin topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. If you’re addicted in taking money shots of runny eggs, then you have Eggs Benedict waiting for you.
Pizza Juanita (Php 244) Rate: 5/5 |
Pasta and pizza lovers, there’s a page of handcrafted pizza and pastas for you. Surprised to be impressed by Pizza Juanita, handcrafted pizza with pepperoni, ham, bacon, salami, onion, olives, button mushroom and bell pepper. Thin crust, with right crisp, topped with fresh ingredients. Hard to let go of a slice, especially when you’re in the moment… of fattening! Haha!
Crispy Corned Pork Knuckles (Php 675) Rate: 5/5 |
And the winner for the best dish of my Breakfast at Juanita’s lunch is this, Crispy Corned Pork Knuckles! Hands down winner! The brilliant idea of corned pork beats all those typical crispy pata in Filipino restaurants. For the skin test, I find it crunchy as what everyone want it to be. Go go go! Order this dish in Breakfast at Juanita’s!
Grilled Baby Back Ribs (Php 390) Rate: 5/5 |
1st runner-up of the best dish goes to Grilled Baby Back Ribs. Thought it would be easy to refuse, the sauce alone sang a lullaby to calm my taste buds. I forked the inside of the meat to see its tenderness. Man, I ripped my share apart and dunk in its glorious sticky sweet and spicy barbecue sauce. Without rice, it could be overwhelming. It’s always better to slide some rice into your mouth with these ribs and its sauce.
Pistachio Sansrival Rate: 4/5 |
With everything that looks worth indulging, there may be a confusion in your head which desserts to order. Well, just take note of these two important desserts for your sweet record – Pistachio Sansrival and Moist Chocolate Cake.
Moist Chocolate Cake Rate: 4/5 |
The Ambiance:
Festive looking from the red hanging string lights. A party of colors in all angles, up or down, left or right. The displays around are also unpredictable. Frames of different stories, a cabinet of porcelains and vintage items, and cute stuff toys sitting on the couch beside the customers.
Out of all the collections, what I wanted for myself was the display of vintage cameras. My sister and I won’t mind clearing a space for these classic beauties!
