People tend to be afraid of entering vegan or vegetarian restaurant. People identify vegetarian dishes as boring or bland. Normally, people stick to the safe side, which is eating comfort foods.
For those who are not aware, vegetarian foods can be also considered as comfort foods. You just have to know where to go. You just have to be adventurous and be more open to the other side of eating healthy.
Corner Tree Cafe gives you a picture of what vegetarian comfort foods are. Not that far from what you order in non-vegetarian restaurants.
“Pizza” Bianca (Php 170) – I was disappointed with the portion served to us. I would appreciate the taste more if the serving was more generous. It was “bitin”. Although, I like the bread they used, ciabatta. And the garlic didn’t defeat its purpose. I tasted it throughout eating a piece of bread.
Arroz ala Cubana (Php 225) – Upon tasting, you wouldn’t notice that you are actually eating minced tofu, not beef or pork. This dish is a favorite since it can already satisfy your hungry stomach with its jam-packed plate. One plate includes fried bananas, fried egg, minced tofu and organic red rice. Already a complete package, I must say.
Spinach & Mushroom Lasagna (Php 390) – A must-order in Corner Tree Cafe. Cheese makes any Italian dish more appetizing. After trying this pasta, with mushrooms, spinach, roasted red bell peppers and 3 different cheeses, you’ll consider being a vegetarian.
Tofu Teriyaki with Sauteed Asparagus & Shitake Mushrooms (Php 280) – Looks vegetarian, tastes semi-vegetarian because of the teriyaki sauce. Instead of chicken, it’s healthier to replace meat with tofu. Texture and taste may be different from chicken, but I suggest you give it a try.
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie (Php 130) – With the heat of summer feel in the Philippines, ordering a smoothie may be the perfect choice. Be energized and refreshed with this delicious blend of banana and peanut butter. It’s seriously going to be a delicious treat for you. (Kids will also love this one!)
Mango Lassi (Php 120)
The cozy living room, the first thing you’ll see as you open the door of the cafe.
To non-vegetarians, there is nothing to lose in paying a visit to a vegetarian cafe. Their world may be out of yours but it’s good to learn that vegetarians can be creative in what they eat. They are not merely plant eaters. Vegetarians also explore different cuisines to add spice to their meals.
Visit Corner Tree Cafe and try to be healthy in a veggie way.
