Is it a rule to eat breakfast food for dinner? Who said you should always follow the norm in eating?
I haven’t been eating Filipino breakfasts for the past few weeks. One reason could be the rush of going to work early in the morning. A bowl of cereals and milk are my usual companions. In less than 10 minutes, I can already finish my breakfast and head to the office. For this reason, I began to feel the urge of eating Filipino breakfasts. In other words, I craved!
Cab Cafe, the new restaurant I visited a couple weeks ago didn’t fail me. If you remember my post about Bob’s, Cab Cafe is the coffee shop version of it. In Bacolod, Cab Cafe is famous for its name Bob’s Cafe
While browsing through their menu, the dish “Tapsilog” popped out of the picture. You should have seen my face when I saw that on the menu, the shallow joy smile I had was very obvious. So then, I ordered the Tapsilog from Cab Cafe.
When the Tapsilog was served, I suddenly missed my mom, especially 2 sunny side up eggs were on it. I consider my mom accountable why I love Tapsilog. In every breakfast restaurant we visit, Tapsilog is number 1 on her list. Whenever she orders, she asks me to share the dish with her because she rarely finishes 1 cup of rice, so does I.
The picture shows the generosity of one plate of their Tapsilog (Php 150). If you are on a date, you can share the plate with your partner, 2 eggs and a reasonable amount of sliced beef.
The beef tapa tasted like it was marinated for more than a week. Expect the beef to be full of flavor, wherein you can choose not to ask for vinegar anymore. For some reason, I still asked for vinegar to compare how it tasted. I’ve tried them both, with and without vinegar. I could say whichever your preference is, Cab Cafe’s Tapsilog is something you should try.
Pizza Negrense (Php 280) is one of their best-sellers, no way I would miss the chance to try. From the name itself, it is a recipe all the way from Bacolod. Pizza Negrense is composed of chorizo, cheese and quail eggs. This is something new for me, a unique recipe I enjoyed eating. The thin sliced pizza crust brought out the distinct flavors of chorizo and quail eggs. Negrense food is truly experimental.

For dessert, I had a small cake of Black Forest (Php 120). Before slicing it off, I ate bits and pieces of the chocolate strips that covered the cake. Those chocolates were like hard shells, which were fun to munch. On the other hand, the cake bread didn’t have anything remarkable in it. Don’t set any standards in order for you not to be disappointed with this cake.

Hit up Kapitolyo area for a taste of Negrense food. Experience the homey vibe of this restaurant. It’s a place where you can do thesis with your group, catch up with your “long time no see” friends or could be the next food trip spot for you.
Don’t be afraid because the food prices won’t be a hassle for your budget. Plus, let me know what you think of their Tapsilog! (If ever you order it too!) 🙂
Pray, Eat and Love.
