When we choose our comfort snack, we end up with something familiar, convenient and still within our daily budget. Splurging for snacks is not necessary especially if you’re saving pennies in your piggy bank for your Christmas gifts. In SM Southmall Foodcourt, you have an army of choices to fill in the gaps in between breakfast to lunch or lunch to dinner. Without worrying about emptying your pockets, these 7 comfort snacks below P100 will fit in perfectly for your 7 days in a week.
Comfort Snacks:
1. Lugaw Macao, Goto King
Lugaw Macao (Php 70) Store: Goto King |
My Chinese friends will see the similarity of congee in Goto King’s Lugaw Macao. As we approach a colder season (hopefully a cold Christmas), hot rice porridge with toppings like century egg and chorizo in bowls will seem to suit the weather.
2. Lumpiang Sariwa, Kuya’s Special Lumpiang Sariwa
Lumpiang Sariwa (Php 50) Store: Kuya’s Special Lumpiang Sariwa |
Not only appreciated by the older ones, even the millennials could appreciate Lumpiang Sariwa for its diversity in flavors. This is the kind of vegetable dish that doesn’t need force feeding. SM Southmall has one store, Kuya’s Special Lumpiang Sariwa, that only sells Lumpiang Sariwa as its specialty for only P50.
3. Beef Gyros, Plato Wraps
Beef Gyros (Php 65) Store: Plato Wraps |
Beef Gryos, a Greek dish that is new on Plato Wrap’s menu. Being used to ordering Chunky Chicken Wrap, it was a leap to order a different type of wrap this time. Beef Gyros met my level of satisfaction, a simple union of beef, cucumbers and yogurt dressing.
4. Ensaymada, Megamelt
Original Ensaymada Store: Megamelt |
A quick take-away snack that completes your cheesy desires is this Original Ensaymada from the trusted brand, Megamelt. Over the years, Megamelt proved itself as a go-to shop for generously cheesy and soft ensaymadas in malls. Of course, count SM Southmall as one of Megamelt’s houses.
5. Chicharon, R. Lapid’s Chicharon
Chicharon Bilog (Php 80) Store: R. Lapid’s Chicharon |
In a foodie’s book, there’s no such thing as diet. Seeing a Chicharon stand could be tempting, always. From time to time, it’s not a sin to fall into the arms of these crunchy Chicharon Bilog from R. Lapid’s. Don’t leave the vinegar behind. Make sure you have that in your brown bag upon your purchase.
6. BLT Croissant, Dunkin’ Donuts
Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Croissant (Php 75) Store: Dunkin’ Donuts |
Dunkin’ Donuts pride itself for sweet tooth donuts and also for its savory sandwiches like this Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Croissant. No more fancy add-ons. All 3 ingredients are key, enough to making this croissant sandwich appealing to the mass craving for sandwich bites.
7. Turon, Seafood Grill
Turon (Php 15) Store: Seafood Grill |
While searching for comfort snacks around the foodcourt, I chanced upon a food cart carrying a tray of Turon. You are not pinoy if you refuse to get a piece of fried banana spring roll that only costs P15.
