Beverages such as milk teas, fruit shakes, pearl drinks and the like are such a hit nowadays. Your eyes won’t miss to see places like Happy Lemon, Serenitea or Bubble Tea always packed with customers. Sometimes, despite my addiction, I lose interest in getting a drink because of the long lines and unavailable seats to chill. It’s like they never run out of customers (which is a good thing for them but not for me). Obviously, the demand was created for such beverages, giving hype to any milk tea spot in Manila. Oh the milk tea craze in Manila! Can you handle it?
Fortunately, I found a solution to my dilemma! I found a new spot in Kapitolyo where there is room for me to chill. Introducing, another addition to the milk tea society in Manila, Chatime!
I visited Chatime twice and saw franchises outside the Philippines. The first visit was with my food blogger friends. As you can see from the photo, about 10 kinds of Chatime beverages to keep us company. Care to guess which one’s mine?
I had to ask frequent Chatime visitors for advice on what to get. They recommended the Taro Milk Tea, which is far from what I buy at Quickly. Chatime’s version is ‘legit’ taro! You can actually taste bits of taro while drinking. I wasn’t able to finish my Large Taro Milk Tea because the texture was so thick, half of the glass filled me up easily. Rowena and I felt the same way. We should have gotten the smaller size of Taro Milk Tea.
Carlos and Jane, my foodie friends! Thanks to
Jane for our
Chatime beverages.
The second time I visited Chatime, I ordered their Tieguanyin Latte with Pearls. Tieguanyin tea is the most famous out of all Chinese Oolong Teas. In what I ordered, one sip already gave me a taste of all three ingredients; It had a blend of coffee, milk and tea. Compared to my previous order, Taro Milk Tea, the texture of this Tieguanyin Latte was more liquid and definitely lighter for the stomach.
I would also recommend QQ Milk Tea if you have a sweet tooth like me. For coconut lovers who order extra crystals for their milk tea, you don’t need to get extra for this one. Crystals (nata de coco) and pearls are already part of its mix. You would surely love the coconut blend on your milk tea. A perfect cooler for the bi-polar weather in Manila.
Aside from the thirst-quenching coolers, another thing I love about Chatime is their cozy ambiance and cute pink and purple furniture. It’s really a place for chitchats as you can see. Or let’s say, a little similarity to my own room.
Oh my teenage room resembles to this style, a mix and match of pink and purple. If this place was built when I was in college, I would probably go to Chatime just to study.
Speaking of studying, Chatime provides extension cords for those who wants to bring their laptops. You can really study or even work there. FYI, wi-fi is free!
Chatime in Pioneer Center is now one of my favorite chill spots in Manila! 🙂
What’s yours?
