Since I was a kid, my parents trained me to live a balanced life – spiritual, mental, emotional and of course, physical, which is what I’ll talk about. Growing up, they didn’t allow me to drink sodas, eat junk-foods or get used to eating anything unhealthy. As much as possible, they exerted effort to avoid visiting fast-food chains for me to be good examples. They brainwashed me how eating fruits and vegetables are beneficial. During those times, I never complained to them because I know it is for my own good. Besides, I still get to eat anything I want and they never starve me, so there wasn’t a problem at all.
In addition to the physical aspect of my balanced life, what I like about how my parents brought me up is how they engaged me into playing almost all kinds of sports. My parents were so supportive in all the sports I was into – boxing, bowling, volleyball, ice hockey, swimming, tennis, badminton, basketball, billiards and more. In all my tournaments or games, they were always there to cheer for me.
Now that I’m an adult, I began to realize that my parents were completely right. It is because of them why I am still used to living the healthy kind of lifestyle. Honestly, I miss being a child because of the free time I had in playing all the sports I want. Now, I really have to balance my schedule wisely to be able to still play.
Despite the busy schedule I have, I still try to make sure that I have time to exercise. Back in high school, I had time for sports because I was a varsity player and the sports club was just minutes away from my school. Schedule was busy for me because of my sports, which was fun at the same time. In college, I try to hit the gym at least 3x a week or depends on my schedule every term. Every summer break, I go to boxing gyms and train. Now that I’m at the corporate world, felt like the term “sports” was deleted in my system. However, I know my body. I know for a fact that I will gain so much or suffer from fever (literally), if I don’t do any sport to give me some sweat and keep me moving.
I discovered that Running is the best sport for busy people like me. One of the benefits in running is this fact: there is no hassle because I can run after a long day around my village. Usually, I run around with my sister or with some friends if our schedule matches. Another thing, no need for expensive equipments because all you need is a sporty attire, a comfortable cross-training or running shoes and you’re off to hit the streets. Such a hassle-free and convenient workout for busy people, that’s why I love it! 🙂
At this point, I’m really excited to get my body moving and join fun runs again. (I hope the weather will be friendlier :p ) Plus, I just want to encourage people that running is certainly the sport for almost everyone. No matter how old you are, what your gender is, what you size is, as long as your legs can walk, jog and run, running can be your workout.
Remember, eating is more pleasurable with a healthy body!
Stay healthy! 🙂
Pray, Eat and Love.
Cheers,
The Food Scout
