Casinos, restaurants, cinemas, hotels, and designer shops, some of what welcomed us in Resort’s World. It was the first time our family roamed around Resort’s World. Visiting the place wasn’t a top of mind for us since it was quite far from where we are staying. An hour or more would be the travel time from our place. Can you just imagine how much gas that would be?
Last Christmas weekend, we stayed in Marriott Hotel. Mom felt the hunger from her stomach at a certain time. She asked us to go out of the hotel with her and try new restaurants in RW. Because of that, we landed in our new resto discovery, Johnny Chow.
Just like a kid that could like a toy because of its colors. My choice could sometimes be bias because of the colors I like. Pink and yellow, two of my favorite colors. The attractive colors, with pink and yellow as my favorites, and animated logo surely attracted us, I mean me, to go inside Johnny Chow.
Charlie Chan Crispy Beef Orange (Php 380) – The zest of the thin orange slice added a twist to the dish. Have a bite and get sweet and sour orange taste, only it’s not that obvious on your first bite. For you to get the full taste, you have to scrape the sauce from the plate. I asked for more sauce to get the satisfaction I needed. The dish was appealing to me – fried beef strips glazed with its orange sauce. You just have to ask for extra bowl of its orange sauce to be more satisfied with its taste.
Emperor Wenzong (Php 330) – Exactly the same problem with Charlie Chan Beef Orange, the sauce! According to the waiter, this is their best seller. Hmm… I would believe him that it is the best if the sauce was enough.
I have nothing against the taste of the dish. I love how the chicken was cooked, juicy and tender meat. The blend of its bbq sauce went well with the crispy chicken. However, I wish they served more bbq sauce on the plate.
I don’t know if their main concern is the plating. Maybe they thought more sauce would destroy plating of Emperor Wenzong.
Main concern of a consumer is the taste. This photo above is the after-shot of Emperor Wenzong. I asked for extra sauce, like what I did with the Charlie Chan Beef Orange. Definitely, tasted way way better! Now it can be called their best.
Johnny Chow Fried Rice (Php 230) – Just add the sauce from either Charlie Chan Beef Orange or Emperor Wenzong, you’re good to go. This is their version of Yang Chow fried rice, which is famous and a favorite in Chinese restaurants.
Johnny Chow wouldn’t be Asian without dimsum:
Seafood Siomai (Php 158)
Hakaw / Shrimp Dumpling
Surrounded by Asian photos, interiors, added with yellow and blue lights certainly lightened our mood last Christmas. This fancy restaurant defined the Asian theme as silly, fun and animated.
The view from our table: Mona Lisa of our generation, pop and still artistic. The controversial smile is still there with the Chinese-collared dress, fitting the sexy body of Mona Lisa.
Animated by the cute chairs of Johnny Chow. The girl looks Japanese and the guy looks Korean/Chinese for me. What do you think?
If Johnny Chow adds more sauce on their dishes, I’d go back more often. Other than that, I had a wonderful time eating there with my family. Kudos to their service. Servers acknowledged my concerns, especially with my requests for extra sauces. They were all attentive and friendly to us customers.
Johnny Chow should open more branches. Hoping they would open in my favorite malls, namely Rockwell, Greenhills and Shangri-la. 🙂
Pray, Eat and Love.
Cheers,
