What is good from the outside may not always be good in the inside. There are numerous restaurants nowadays that can trick us but not give us a good treat. Our eyes may be filled with lavish or alluring interior designs, but our stomachs are deflated with dissatisfaction. The plating is presentable but the dish on the plate is awful. You end up paying for a meal that only satisfied your eyes, nothing else but that.
For a person who is extremely hungry, you wouldn’t want to end up in a place like those I’ve mentioned. That is like suicide. Hot tempered people would surely struggle if that’s the case. I was slightly doubting the new restaurant at Bonifacio High Street, Cue Modern Barbecue, because it might be one of those ‘trick without treat’ fancy restaurants. Thank you to the first dish that welcomed me, my doubts were cleared out and gave me a good view of Cue Modern Barbecue.
Bone Marrow & Steak Tacos (Php 485) – This is the “welcome food” I got after saying ‘Hello’ to my fellow foodies at the dinner. Normally, I start a meal with salad or any kind of light appetizer to prep up for meat. No more prepping time given for me. My first bite of Cue’s food is their deadly Bone Marrow & Steak Tacos that didn’t only gave me appetite but also stimulated my energy for more meaty goodness at Cue.
You don’t need to sandwich them in tacos to enjoy the bone marrow. Fork it and eat it! Just beware of how much cholesterol you could get. 🙂 Take it easy :p
Lamb Ribs (Php 680) – I’ve been urging for a piece of lamb to be thrown in my mouth for the past few days. The entire week, my dad prepared salmon for my ‘baon’ at work. I requested for it by the way. I also requested for lamb but I don’t remember why he didn’t get me one. Maybe it was difficult to cook, especially if we leave the kitchen to the maids alone. My dad prefers to cook for me. Shweeet! 🙂 I picked Lamb Ribs from the Chopping Board section of the menu to solve that urge.
After few bites of Lamb Ribs, I know that the longing was gone. Meat was cooked to perfection, soft and chewy. Not too much flavors in it, deliciously plain jane that matches its barbecue sauce and side dish, Cue’s Chili Monggo.
Cue’s Chili Monggo (Php 125) – Sour cream headdress to add color to the gooey green of monggo. Unusual at the start. Later on, after giving a shot, discovered that it doesn’t taste odd at all to top off a monggo dish with sour cream. It actually works out for me as an appetizer. I recommend this dish, especially to vegetarians reading out there.
The House Burger (Php 395) – Where is the best burger in town? Can I please nominate Cue’s House Burger? Pretty please! I just want to rave about this burger, even on Instagram. Haha!
I didn’t want to leave Cue without tasting their burger. Heard positive feedbacks but then, I didn’t want any of those comments to influence my taste-buds. Good thing I did try their awesome burger! Or else, I’d be missing out on one of the best dishes they have in store. Don’t ever miss out their House Burger if you get a chance to drop by.
Beef Belly (Php 695) – Mustard-crusted beef belly went straight to my belly. I didn’t have to chew long enough for the meat was too tenderized. The Food Scout, yes I’m talking about myself, is not a fan of thick-sliced onions. Left the roasted onions on the sizzling skillet pan.
The Baby Back Ribs (Php 645) – Barbecue glaze on top of the ribs spoke enough words. Any type of meat with that kind of barbecue glaze will let your fork and knife get ready and slice through. That’s not it, you might not want to put them down anymore.
Roasted Chicken (Half/Php 405; Whole/Php 745) – Cue knows how to take good care of their meat. The word “tender” is overused here. But what else to use to describe the kind of chicken meat they have? Forgive me but I have to say that its tender juiciness will make you want to finish their chicken to the bones.
I forgot about the sauces for the chicken. Even without the sauces, chicken is already pumped with jam-packed flavors.
Caramel Pecan Cheesecake (Php 235)
Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake (Php 195) – I stop the world and melt with this dessert. The ice cream lady out here didn’t think twice in ordering this. The love affair I have with ice cream is crazy. I couldn’t resist getting a cup of ice cream with anyone. Haha! If you say ice cream, most definitely I’ll go with you like a little kid and get a scoop for myself.
I was like a little kid when I got this plate of Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake. My big grin and eyes for the ice rapidly grew bigger.
Can I just say this is now one of my favorite desserts? Cookie cake was baked to the kind of sweetness level I want. I can have this as my appetizer and have this as my dessert. 🙂
Cue Modern Barbecue proved that they are not just one of the fine looking restaurants at Bonifacio High Street. Their food will make people gaga over coming back and forth. Forget about the neat interiors. The focus is on how succulent their dishes are.
I know for sure, I will be back at Cue Modern Barbecue!
Pray, Eat and Love.
Cheers,
The Food Scout
