To set things straight, I didn’t eat & run. I ran then I ate. That’s basically some of the words to describe what happened at this event.
To give you more details, let me share with you my experience at Eat & Run Fun Run.
For my readers, I know you guys are aware of this fun run I posted a month ago. I had a blog giveaway contest wherein 2 lucky winners joined the run for free. Organized by the team who popularized the zombie run a.k.a. Outbreak Manila, they came up with another cool concept called Eat & Run.
Once Runtertainment sent me their proposal about this event, I accepted the challenge immediately. I missed running! So I didn’t let go of the chance to be part of this fun run.
Preparation before the run:
1) Slept earlier than my usual schedule. Ensured I had enough rest and sleep during that week.
2) Organized things I needed for the day of my fun run. I bought a big bottle of gatorade to quench my thirst before running.
3) Planned my breakfast before the run.
4) Created a new playlist to hype me up in the morning. Hahaha!
During the race:
I woke up at 4:30 in the morning to prepare myself for this 2km run. Since everything I needed was already prepared, I didn’t rush or wasn’t in a hurry for the race. I met up with Nicole and her mom after getting our race kit from the registration booth. Race kit includes 3 race bibs plus 1 eating bib, worn during a player’s turn to run and eat. Originally, the team was composed of Reine, Nicole and yours truly. But plan B had to occur, Tita Marie (Nicole’s mom) replaced Nicole and took her spot.
To form one Eat & Run team, 3 runners are required. I’ll be specific with our team. In our team, 1st runner/eater was Tita Marie. 2nd runner/eater was my sister Reine. And lastly, I was asked to be the last runner/eater.
While runner 1 was on the street, running 2km before finishing her food. All runners 2 & 3 were at the holding period. The spot was designed for runners to wait before it gets their turn. Whenever runner 1 or 2 gets back to the eating area, the host announces the team number. This means, the next runner can head straight to the eating area, grab the eating bib and run 2 kilometers.
Being the last is quite a pressure to me. As you can see, the number 3 specifies that I was the 3rd and last runner/eater. While number 20 was our team number.
The first runner, Tita Marie, finished 1 chicken burrito sponsored by A.I.C.A.
Second runner or drinker was my sister Reine. She was given a choice among chilled taho beverages on top of the table. She chose to finish this mango flavored chilled taho with tiny pearls inside. Upon reaching the food station, chilled taho was not exactly “chilled” anymore. Easier to drink it up, without experiencing brain freeze.
Last but not the least, presenting to you my Chicken Burrito. The third runner/eater needed to finish not just 1, but 2 before finishing the race. A healthy breakfast, with fresh chicken breast meat and veggies inside. This was just my big & tasty breakfast right after burning some calories.
Hooray! We finished the race! Thumbs up for my ladies! We all love the idea of eating after running. Genius!
Goodies and giveaways from sponsors surrounded Venice Piazza. There was a free photobooth, free yogurt, free taste of beverages and snacks, and more entertainment even after the race.
Thank you to my supportive friends who dressed up like a runner that day! (Even though they didn’t run. Hehe) I appreciate you guys! 🙂
With my health advocate partner. Hehe. 😉
Congrats Eat & Run team! Thank you for inviting me guys! 🙂 Special thanks to Nikko Yoro and Angelo Cruz! Good job guys! 🙂
