What’s so wrong with Gluten? Why do we keep on hearing recipes that are Gluten-free?
A straight definition from Wikipedia, Gluten is defined as a protein composite found in wheat and related grains, this includes barley and rye. Bread makers need Gluten since it gives elasticity to dough, helping it rise and keep its shape and often gives the final product a chewy texture. Most of us are not aware that this composite is also used in cosmetics, hair products, and other dermatological preparations.
Studies found that a small percentage of our population are allergic to this protein. This is what we call Celiac disease, which is caused by an abnormal immune response to gluten. An ugly fact is that it can damage the lining of the small intestine. That, in turn, can prevent important nutrients from being absorbed.
Some of you may think, “But why care? I’m not allergic to gluten anyway?”.
I think it’s also good to care for those who are deprived from indulging especially on desserts.
Amores Gluten Free Cupcakes strongly believes that everyone should be able to eat yummy cupcakes, cookies, desserts, and breads even if they are gluten or casein intolerant. It’s their mission to show you a healthier option in pampering yourself with desserts.
For Amores, any recipe can be made deliciously gluten free as they create all natural and tasty varieties of baked goods. Not just that, they claim that it’s possible for everyone to indulge in desserts that are dairy free, sugar free and egg free.
Wondering how it tastes, I gave Amores cupcakes a shot right away.
Banana Muffins (Php 60/pc.)
Rate: 3/5
Normally, muffins do not invite me to grab them. But then, for a gluten free dessert, it feels guilt-free eating piece by piece even after my morning work out. If I compare to muffins available in bake shops, it tastes almost the same. Fantastic to find a dessert that can match and go side by side regular desserts.
Carrot Walnut Cupcake (Php 75/pc.)
Rate: 4/5
I handed over the box of cupcakes to my sister Reine to let her try any cupcake she wishes to taste. Out of all the cupcakes, she loved this Carrot Walnut Cupcake. By the way, she thought these cupcakes are like the usual sugary homemade cupcakes because of its frothy and creamy frosting. There wasn’t a hint of gluten free or sugar free as she finished the whole piece.
Chocolate Cupcake (Php 65/pc.)
Rate: 4/5
Dairy free and gluten free, a wise choice for lessening your worries in fixing that chocolate cravings. Wonderfully done, I wish I could have this Chocolate Cupcake for my daily dessert.
With the help of Amores Gluten Free products, people with gluten problems are no longer deprived from their sweet tooth cravings. Having this healthy dessert option in the Philippine market allows more people to choose being healthier than sticking to their “fatty carb loading diet”.
Being exposed to numerous dessert shops that offer spectacular, delicious yet sugar-filled bites, I found Amores Gluten Free Cupcakes a wise alternative way of dessert-indulging.
Have a fit and healthy day, my dear foodies! 🙂
