Quite intimidating to enter the high-ceiling fine dining restaurant beside all the casual restaurants along 7th Ave of Bonifacio High Street Central. Right at the corner of the hip center of Fort’s BGC High Street, I often pass by Crystal Jade Dining In. Based on how it is designed and decorated, I immediately judged this one’s the higher end of Crystal Jade Shanghai Delight in Greenhills.
This time, no more intimidation for your Chinese food cravings as Crystal Jade Dining In launched their newest promo for all of us – Weekend Dim Sum Buffet!
As they use only the finest ingredients in making its dim sum, Crystal Jade Dining, a franchise from Singapore, pushes for more quality in serving you their dim sum buffet. Just a little question, do you know the meaning of dim sum? Crystal Jade Dining adheres to the literal meaning of dim sum, which is “Little morsels of love”. So much love for dim sum that they want to give you that pleasure and delight through feeding you their dim sum creations.
Keeping up to its franchise from Crystal Jade Singapore, they brought in an experienced master dim sum chef, together with an equally capable culinary team. This is to ensure that the restaurant serves only its best, distinct flavor and consistent quality. Their standards for quality dim sum probably made them stand out and won the CNNGo Culinary Award for the category of no other than “Best Dim Sum”.
“We do not compromise on our ingredients, or the manner of our food preparation,” according to Mylene Lim, Chief Operating Officer of Crystal Jade Dining In. “We believe that there are no shortcuts to achieving premium quality, and we observe all possible measures to ensure that our dim sum, as with the rest of our dishes, are authentically Chinese and of the highest quality.”
Let me take you to some of their Dim Sum specialties for their Weekend Dim Sum buffet.
The Food:

Baked Bo Lo BBQ Pork Bun (Php 180)
Rate: 4/5 |
Starting off with the buns that I was interested to compared with
Tim Ho Wan’s Pork Buns. Still fresh from my taste memories, Tim Ho Wan’s soft, flaky and crusty buns captivated me. But Crystal Jade’s Baked Bo Lo BBQ Pork Buns introduced me to a new pork bun sensation with its delightful BBQ pork filling and its soft bread yet sweet crusty pineapple-inspired topping. If you don’t want to fall in line for 2 hours, this is
another place for pork buns!

Steamed Cream Custard Bun with Salted Egg Yolk (Php 160)
Rate: 5/5 |
For the past few days, O have been appetizing me with Salted Egg Yolk buns photos from the internet. He was actually making me drool while we were working out. How cute of him! Haha! Our cravings were over when we got our request! Thank God for Crystal Jade’s Steamed Cream Custard Bun with Salted Egg Yolk. Oozing with slimy and rich salted egg yolk slipping over the buns as I took a bite. The best among the Weekend buffet menu!

Steamed BBQ Pork Bun (Php 180)
Rate: 4/5 |
By how it looks, I’ll say this is Siopao, made more sophisticated with its name and packed sweet BBQ pork filling.
|
Baked BBQ Pork Pastry with Sesame (Php 160)
Rate: 3/5 |
For a sweeter pork bun, the pastry option might fit your taste. Empanada-like buns that’s also filled with the same BBQ pork like its relative buns.
|
Baked Mini Egg Tart (Php 160)
Rate: 4/5 |
If you have Lord Stow’s in mind, Chinese egg tarts are different from English egg tarts. Thicker and less flaky shell that has a not-too-sweet rich and creamy custard.
|
Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling with Coriander (Php 160)
Rate: 4/5 |
Sounds vegetarian but doesn’t taste like vegetarian to me. Variety of vegetable texture playing inside my mouth as I try the ball of Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling with Coriander.
|
Steamed Pork & Shrimp Dumpling with Crab Roe (Php 190)
Rate: 4/5 |
To cut the long name short, it’s simply “Siomai” or “Siew Mai”. The most common dim sum any table could appreciate.
|
Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (Php 190)
Rate: 4/5 |
How could Hakaw or “Ha Kau” be out of the picture right? The favorite of Filipinos and the easiest to love among all the numerous dim sums Chinese cuisine has. Truly quality hakaw as I tried its fresh juicy shrimps wrapped in thin dim sum paper.
|
Steamed Rice Roll with Shrimp (Php 220)
Rate: 4/5 |
Steamed Rice Rolls gave a good shot with its light soft rice roll skin and fresh fillings, a new dim sum to love!
|
Steamed Rice Roll with Scallop & Asparagus (Php 220)
Rate: 4/5 |
|
Steamed Beancurd Skin Rolled with Shrimp & Minced Pork in Oyster Sauce (Php 180)
Rate: 3/5 |
Despite its oyster sauce covering the beancurd rolls, the rolls maintain its distinct flavor standing out from its sauce. Soft and firm that keeps the flavor more interesting.
|
Steamed Chicken Feet with Special Sauce (Php 160)
Rate: 3/5 |
The table with food journalists weren’t interested to grab a piece of this Chicken Feet. Only O had his eyes looking at the Chicken Feet as his treat.
|
Deep-fried Beancurd Skin Rolled with Shrimp (Php 190)
Rate: 3/5 |
Comparing the steamed version of beancurd versus its deep-fried version, steamed wins its show. I had more interest getting one more round of steamed beancurd.
|
Pan-fried Carrot Cake with Dried Shrimp & Preserved Meat (Php 160)
Rate: 4/5 |
I don’t understand my taste saying no to “raddish cake” or in this case, similar style of cooking with its Pan-fried Carrot Cake. Texture and presentation mirrors the raddish cake we know of.
|
Deep-fried Yam Dumpling with Scallop, Minced Pork & Mushroom (Php 180)
Rate: 3/5 |
Are you into Taro? Then you might want to get this plate of Deep-fried Yam Dumpling with Scallop, Minced Pork and Mushroom as well.
