When a guy asks you out on a movie date, your imagination engine starts to function with the thought of sitting together in the dark while sharing a large bucket of popcorn in between. There’s no other choice but to get popcorn from the snack bar, the only choice you have to make is the flavor both of you agree on. Don’t you find that old school? Or still an ideal movie date for you?
I’m guilty, I did that too. Watching a Marvel action movie with a large bucket of Cheese or Sour Cream popcorn in between O and me. It’s automatic for us to buy some snacks before heading to the doors of our cinema. It never gets old. Snacking while watching in cinemas looks like the ideal set-up.
Munchtown, a new establishment beside Greenhills Promenade Dolby Atmos Cinemas, takes your movie night to the next level. Instead of the usual old school favorite popcorn, Munchtown elevates the meaning of snacking in cinemas.
Chef Robby Gocco, one of the chef partners of Munchtown who happens to be the chef behind Greek restaurant Cyma and new crowd favorite Green Pastures, proves that movie snacks should not be plain and simple. I am talking about bringing a touch of gourmet to your movie snacks. That’s how I felt from the time Munchtown’s snacks were placed on the table.
Munchtown is not only a take-out counter but a restaurant with numerous seats available for dine-in. Before or after your chick flick, Munchtown stands by at the 2nd floor of the newest wing of Promenade. If you’re familiar with Yumi, then you won’t miss out the well-lighted open snack bar of Munchtown. What you’ll also love about Munchtown is their delivery system to the movie house. Sorry for those who are watching at the old Promenade and Theater Mall cinemas, Munchtown exclusively delivers right to your seat if you’re watching at the new Dolby Atmos cinemas.
The Food:
Prosciutto and Arugula (Php 390) Rate: 5/5 |
I started off with the Prosciutto Pizza, which felt heavenly to start off since I never say no to prosciutto. Anything with prosciutto turns a simple recipe to a more sophisticated and gourmet type of dish. The 10-inch rectangular pizza includes fresh mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, arugula and extra virgin olive oil. Hearing from Chef Robby Gocco that the bread is made from scratch confirms the richness and freshness of bread used.

Chicago Dog (Php 220) Rate: 4/5 |
8-inch hotdog on potato buns with picke relish, mustard, onions, tomato, pickle spear, banana pepper and celery salt. Hotdog on a bun with mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise lives in the past for Munchtown. A taste of a different dog goes well with any movie you watch. Well if you’re watching a horror film, make it to a point to have a strong grip on this Chicago Dog or your Php220 will be thrown to the trash.

Sliders (Php 105) Rate: 4/5 |
Mini black angus burgers served with Russian dressing, ketchup, pickles, my favorite caramelized onions, and cheddar cheese. Add caramelized onions and I’m up for it. These mini burgers make a movie snack partner as it is easy to hold without losing your grip. Small but compact burger patties that aren’t sloppy to fall apart.
Blue Cheese Fries (Php 195) Rate: 5/5 |
I won’t get tired of munching on fries. That alone is enough to snack on. But then, Munchtown gave me another reason to crave for fries with their Blue Cheese Fries. Fresh Igorata Idaho potatoes with rock salt, black pepper, blue cheese, bacon bits, tomatoes, spring onion and grilled chicken liver or what they call the poor man’s foie gras.
Poutine with BBQ Beef Brisket (Php 220) Rate: 3/5 |
Order regular Poutine fries for Php 160 and add-on BBQ Beef Brisket for Php 60. This shows you can customize your fries the way you like it, just like adding sinkers to your milk tea. Reine was more impressed with their Poutine fries.
Irish Nachos with Chili Con (Php 280) Rate: 4/5 |
My type of fries, on the same level with my fastened interest in munching on Blue Cheese fries. Fresh Igorota Idaho potatoes with rock salt, black pepper, spring onion, tomatoes, black olives, jalapeño, sour cream, cheese sauce and chili con carne. Quite messy while eating in the middle of the dark so I suggest you use utensils if you’re really fixed on ordering this type of fries for your movie date.
Fried Chicken Wings (Php 180) Rate: 4/5 |
Munchtown’s take on chicken wings with their three choices of sauce, sweet, hot or insane sauce. Making a list of my comfort food, chicken wings will always land as part of my top 5. Despite it’s difficulty in consuming in front of my chosen movie, I’ll still place efforts to take chicken wings to the cinemas with me.
Burrito Bowl (Php 230) Rate: 4/5 |
Shift from the typical burrito wrap to a giant burrito bowl that turns to look like a salad to eat easily.
Your choice of smoked meat either beef brisket, pulled pork, chipotle chicken or vegetarian, choice of rice: mexican or cilantro, choice of beans: refried or black, choice of salsa: rojo or verde, chipotle squash, bbq sauce, pickled onions, corn salsa, pico, cheddar cheese sourcream and salsa fresca.

Peanut Butter Milk Shake (Php 190/16oz.) Rate: 4/5 |
Kids find milkshake always attractive, just like how we, adults, can’t resist them too. I’ll be honest, I couldn’t get rid of this Peanut Butter Milk Shake but 16oz. seems insufficient for me.
Oreo Overload (Php 190/16oz.) Rate: 4/5 |
Overloaded with milk and oreos that concludes a very sweet blend.
