Take a train back to Megamall 5 years ago, you’ll agree with me how different the mall looks compared to its image today. Since Mega Fashion Hall made a scene along the long highway of EDSA, my perception of Megamall have changed. Transformed into a must-visit mall for the trendiest fashion stores and hippest restaurants, you can’t go wrong and out of date. I am not surprised to find out that our next destination for Chinoy TV’s Chinoy Charts is at this talk of the town mall.
This week, we are taking you to the 3 restaurants you must visit at the newest wing of Megamall, the Mega Fashion Hall.
First Stop: Chez Karine
G/F Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, MM, Philippines
Located right in front of
Tim Ho Wan, you know where to head over for dessert.
A bright cozy and steady place to literally get your dessert fix. I’m not a
Chez Karine virgin since I stopped at the sweet haven during our first
Mega Food Tour. Their classic pudding and macarons struck me at first bite.
Adding to the roster of my Chez Karine favorites is their Macaron Ice Cream, specifically the Black Sesame flavor. A combination of macaron and ice cream, 2 of the desserts I can’t decline.
Don’t slap my hands if I pick too much from this macaron tower.
While it was literally raining outside, Jayson Kiong, Sharlene Tan and I were under the umbrella of Chez Karine forgetting about everything else, focusing on our sweet desserts alone.
Second Stop: Salon de The by French Baker
G/F Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, MM, Philippines
Intimidating to enter, we all know that. Even Salon de The by French Baker hears that a lot. The European interiors with dim and mood lights could create an ambiance that could scare away budget conscious people. Sticking to the colors of gray and blue, the whole package can seriously intimidate passersby.
The interior is only a facade. We explored Salon de The’s menu and discovered dishes including soups, pastas, and rice meals, could fill our not-so-empty stomachs at reasonable rates.
Jayson, Shar and I welcomed the afternoon by delighting ourselves with this High Tea set. Prepared ideally for 2-3, with variations from appetizing pies, chicken lollipops to dark chocolates, the 3 of us felt this high tea set is suitable for our ‘merienda’ preferences.
Third Stop: Tim Ho Wan
G/F Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, MM, Philippines
It doesn’t matter how many times you bring me to Tim Ho Wan, I’ll still spare some time to get a hold of those bbq pork buns people line up for.
I dined in at
Tim Ho Wan a number of times but I was never seated inside their private room. I never knew there is a private room until our
Chinoy TV shoot.
Tim Ho Wan’s best-sellers, including baked bbq pork buns and hakaw, were laid on the table for the Chinoy gang to dive and indulge. My talkative mouth didn’t want to shut up as I raved about how delicious the buns are. Most of the Chinoy TV crew haven’t tasted the buns yet, only until our shoot. During our first take, I had 2 buns without holding back. As I talked and talked, I was chewing on Tim Ho Wan’s world class bbq pork buns.
