It only takes one burger to invite me and give my yes for lunch.

CaliBurger, Century City Mall branch, launched a special burger called the “Chef’s Choice – Smokehouse Burger.” I had the chance to drop by Caliburger over lunch, before attending a meeting  in Makati with a brand I love.

The limited edition burger, specifically from November 17, 2014 to December 17, 2014, is crafted by one of the country’s most respected chefs, Chef Robert Pengson.  It was my first time to encounter chef, which added excitement to my visit.

Trespassed (Well, not really. I asked permission and I was allowed to.) and went straight to the open kitchen to take a shot of chef in action.

Everyone in the room was given one Smokehouse Burger each.

“I wanted to create a unique burger that completely whets your appetite, something fragrant, and that goes well with an ice cold beer,” says Chef Robert Pengson.

100% pure beef patty enveloped in delicious smokey bacon and crispy sliced onion rings topped with Caliburger’s unique maple-mustard sauce.

The star of our lunch, Smokehouse Burger, had various facial reactions from my seatmates. Poker mysterious faces on my 3 o’clock; big flashing eyes on my 11 o’clock; and from my point of view, I think my mirror reflected an impressed face with a small smile looking satisfied. All in all, its maple-mustard sauce summed up my engagement on the limited edition Smokehouse Burger. The smell to the taste of the sauce was a hit!

Kept my eyes on my Smokehouse Burger from start to end. I thought it was over. I was about to leave until I was held back by more burgers in the California beach-themed restaurant.

Fine cheeseburger with layers of 100% USDA Angus Beef patty, double smoked bacon, and sweet and tangy homemade BBQ sauce. It was almost as good as the first burger I had earlier, Smokehouse Burger. What’s good about this BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, it’s not limited. I know I have time to go back for this.

Choice of beef or chicken patty as your double layer of meat. Coming from special sauces to an ordinary burger, I lost my taste and was still on grip for the Smokehouse burger. I was left with few words to rave about. Simple, my opinion at that moment would be “Nothing extraordinary for me.”

That sunny California paradise in Caliburger set the mood for everyone. Timely, it was set on lunch where the sun from the wide glass window joined in the fun.

From the veranda outside Caliburger, where there are orange couches to dine in, the view of Makati City faces you.
