Clearly, it’s summer in our home. My favorite energetic kids, my cousins Ice and Katie, are on break and enjoying freedom from school home-works. When I go down to the living room, it’s more alive than a normal working day. The kids are awake, either running around or busy playing iPad games. I hear their loud laughter and screams on peak playing hours. Actually, there’s really nothing to do much for them. Don’t you just miss being like a kid again? Haha!
So I thought, “How could I make summer more fun and exciting yet productive for the kids, other than playing Clash of Clans?” Then I looked to the kitchen and a light bulb appeared. I realized, I better immerse them in the kitchen without tiring them and removing the big word they’re looking for – FUN! Hence, together with my young cousins, I helped them create an easy and yummy dessert using Lemon Square Inipit.
Originated from Malolos Bulacan, Inipit is a flat pastry made of flour, milk, lard and some sugar. Lemon Square Inipit, 22g in weight, comes in six different flavors (Custard, Ube Pastillas, Pandan, Queso, Chocolate and Lemon) and all are individually wrapped. Each pack has two layers of sponge cake that are soft and tasty, sandwiching its unique filling of 6 flavors.
Inipit A La Mode
Why this recipe? Let’s start off my reason for us adults.
This dessert recipe is not only easy to make, it’s surely not a wallet breaker. You can share the fun without spending a lot. Lemon Square’s Inipit is a wise buy for moms who are in-charge of budgeting.
Now for the kids, I know my cousins. They have a built-in magnet following where the ice cream is. You got it, it’s one of their weaknesses. Inipit A La Mode is a combination of what every kid wants to snack on during the summer.
Ingredients:
6-8 pcs. Lemon Square Inipit (Choose among 6 flavors – Custard, Ube Pastillas, Pandan, Queso, Chocolate and Lemon)
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles
1 cup fruity cereals (or your child’s favorite cereals)
1 cup small marshmallows (optional)
Directions:
1. Place 6-8 Lemon Square Inipit inside the freezer for 3-5 hours.
2. Once done with cooling Inipit bars, lay them on a glass tray or plate. Form a square or rectangular-shaped cake.
3. Top Inipit cake with your favorite vanilla ice cream.
4. Sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles, cereals and marshmallows.
You can be more resourceful by adding more toppings based on what you have in the pantry. If you have maple syrup, tiny chocolates, caramel sauce, etc., go ahead and let your kids gently shower your homemade Inipit A La Mode. It’s a good venue to widen their imagination in creating this fun and easy recipe.
Besides, there’s no limit with Inipit!
Anything is possible using Lemon Square’s Inipit. Just so you know, this is just one of the recipes you and your kids can try while they’re on vacation mode. I urge you to let your imagination work with the kids and create your own Inipit dessert recipe. I’m sure, this activity is worth your time. And of course, still within the budget.
At the end of this bonding with my cousins, I felt 10 years younger. Hahaha! Sarap maging kid again with Inipit! 🙂
