Cheese on a plate usually does the trick. Children and adults of all ages wouldn’t refuse a meal generally smothered with cheese. I love all kinds of food but cheese is a serious temptress. Like a mouse, the aroma, the sight and the idea of cheese turns each of my senses on.
If you classify yourself as a serious cheese lover, this blogpost is dedicated to share with you good news. Cheese Stories of Dolcelatte brings classic cheese pairing that never gets old. Sophistication with all the goodness of cheese in a special menu created for your cheesy taste buds.
The first time I’ve tried Dolcelatte was at their first branch in Quezon Ave. It has an upscale ambiance yet its food and beverages are mid-priced, affordable for professionals and families who seek a hotel-like service in a restaurant. They’ve been famous for their sough-after croughnuts too! I remember rushing all the way to Dolcelatte Quezon Ave to get my box of croughnuts. Haha! Finding out Dolcelatte opened a branch closer to my home, Mega Fashion Hall, I now know where to take my sophisticated friends for lunch without overspending like we are in a hotel.
The Food:
Dolcelatte Cheese Board (Php 450) Rate: 5/5 |
Let’s start off with the basics. The essentials of a cheese plate, you’ve got Blue Cheese, Parmesan Cheese and Homemade Cheese that I loved dearly – fresh cow’s milk with a hint of lemon). I even asked Abi, Dolcelatte’s Marketing Manager, if they sell their cheese. Its light and creamy texture fits my quick breakfast sandwich. Dolcelatte Cheese Board is well-balanced with sweet accompaniments, there you have grapes, truffle honey and homemade bacon jam that’s another hit!
Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup (Php 300) Rate: 4/5 |
I’m always on a lookout for Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup. It matches my need for a quick bite while working in a coffee shop or restaurant. I love how cheese marries the flavors of tomato. Grilled sandwich of fresh mozzarella, truffle cheese that smells oh so good, and fluffy brioche slices, served with a simple red and green lettuce salad dressed with honey balsamic vinaigrette. The thickness of tomato soup topped with parmesan serves as a dipping soup as well.
Tomato Baked Eggs (Php 325) Rate: 5/5 |
When cheese met some eggs, it resulted to two recipes. First is this Tomato Baked Eggs, crafted for tomato aficionados like me. Baked Eggs with green bell peppers, tomato fondue gently mixed with mozzarella and melting cheese, garnished with parsley. A slice of buttery brioche bread completes the set. Expect extremely gooey cheesiness when you dunk and scoop a portion out of its sizzling pan.
Baked Spinach and Eggs (Php 325) Rate: 4/5 |
White sauce lovers find their match in this Baked Spinach and Eggs. Lavinsh white sauce, mixed cheese (mozzarella and melting cheese) and spinach garnished with parsley.
Rigatoni with Blue Cheese (Php 425) Rate: 5/5 |
There came along Rigatoni with Blue Cheese that struck me the most. Perfectly-cooked rigatoni pasta fused with blue cheese cream sauce, thick-sliced bacon, walnuts, arugula and more blue cheese chunks. Out of the ordinary pasta that concentrated on the strong elements of cheese and its al dente rigatoni.
Three Cheese and Caramelized Onion Pizza (Php 450) Rate: 5/5 |
Cheese has a versatile character, complementing onion this time. Three Cheese and Caramelized Onion Pizza is a rectangle-shaped pizza crust topped with white sauce, a mix of homemade cheese, mozzarella and blue cheese, spinach and caramelized onion that directs it to the sweeter side. The thin crust itself adds wow factor and after touching my slice, my fingers were somehow programmed to dig in more.
The desserts cannot be forgotten in Dolcelatte…
Chocolate Banana Mousse Torte (Php 225) Rate: 4/5 |
Strawberry Shortcake (Php 315) Rate: 5/5 |
Strawberry Shortcake captures my fantasy for strawberries as a dessert. Falls average on its sweetness level, which appeals precisely to my taste.
Hazelnut Cheesecake (Php 145) Rate: 5/5 |
Hazelnut Cheesecake speaks strongly on what slice you have on plate. I have nothing else to demand, just a cup of tea or water to wash away the flavorful roots of cheese and hazelnut left in my tongue. If you want to end your Dolcelatte with a splash of delight, grab a slice of Hazelnut Cheesecake.
Black Forest Cheesecake (Php 225) Rate: 4/5 |
The Ambiance:
When I was inside Dolcelatte waiting for my friend Rache, I almost forgot I was inside Mega Fashion Hall for its hotel lobby-like ambiance. Ultimately, the service and high-class food of Dolcelatte combined together give customers reasons to come back.
Please take time exploring their bakery section. I won’t be surprised to see you take home a bag of bread and pastries for your family.
