Christmas parties, Christmas shopping, Christmas dinners, etc. are just around the corner. Wherever you go, there is traffic. You can’t avoid that clingy traffic we all hate. Like everyone else, we all think of the “best” way to avoid it. We tweet MMDA and ask if Edsa or C5 is traffic. Some of you would probably call or text a friend who might be also on the road and ask about the traffic update. This season is equivalent to traffic. What a fact! So with the Christmas madness on the road, it is the wisest decision to go wherever is nearest. And that’s what we did.
For our sisterly date to push through, we moved with alacrity to the dessert place we haven’t tried in Greenhills, Cold Layers.
Whenever I need a food buddy, I could call on my sister in a snap. The word “food” for her is the secret to make her smile. 😀 I knew that she would free her schedule for me when I tell her we will go out on a date…and EAT.
One of my sister’s weaknesses is this, Ice Cream. As soon as we reached Cold Layers, I automatically saw her eyes looking at the menu full of Ice Cream choices. I gave her the freedom to choose. After 10 minutes of deciding, she finally chose this, Let’s Split.
Let’s Split (Php 185) – The shredded thin vanilla ice cream was topped with chocolate and strawberry syrup, nuts and a piece of cherry. Under the mountain of ice cream is an inch of egg pudding. All of the ingredients used are my sister’s favorite. The texture of their ice cream is distinctive for they are shredded and a bit dry, unlike the creamy gelato we are used to.
Vegetarian Lasagna (Php 165) – Reine already knew my order. Say the word veggie or vegetables, you would see her face turn sour. I asked her to try the Vegetarian Lasagna without forcing her. After trying one bite, she asked for more. For a person who hates vegetables, this could be the way to eat veggies. No taste of any vegetable actually. The veggies blended with the pasta really well, making all vegetables taste like mushrooms.
One order is good for one person. Inside the Vegetarian Lasagna, expect mushrooms, broccoli, pickles and other veggies that taste like pasta. I just think it would be better if they served garlic bread or bread with butter instead of 2 pieces of plain and tasteless bread.
Yakult Tea (Php 105) – Oh yes, I love Yakult. My grocery cart will not be complete without packs of Yakult. I had a splash of poppers as I took my first sip. I thought they were simply black pearls. I was surprised to find out that the Yakult Tea had a mix of pearls and poppers. As expected, it tasted like Yakult, only better since it had pearls and poppers. Well I would complain if it wouldn’t.
Cold Layers is another spot in the Greenhills area where you can casually sit and dine with your friends. A bunch of magazines are for free to use as you wait for your order.
Happy and neat colors to dine in. I say “thumb up!” to this cozy room. (Spot the thumb up sign in the photo!)

A glimpse of Cold Layer’s menu. Creative names for their Ice Cream combinations.
This coming January, I am 100% sure my sister and I will have another date. It’s her assignment to pick where we would eat and dine next time. Stay tuned! Toodles! 🙂
