On a Friday evening after a tiring week full of work, the kind of set up I was looking for was this = comfort food + good company + intellectual conversations. My legs were not in the mood to dance in the middle of the dance floor. Is this a sign of aging? Hahaha! But seriously, friday nights are usually spent with friends. Simply to catch up and unwind from the exhausting week.
Going to Cafe 1771 Winebar with my foodie friends last Friday night made me feel that I made the right decision. As soon as I arrived, which was a bit late, they were already starting with some appetizers on the table.

Oyster Rockefeller (Php 550) Rate: 5/5 |
The first appetizer served, which attracted me with the oozing melted cheese on top. Grabbed my spoon and after tasting, this line went through my head, “Woah! this tastes so good and expensive!”. When I checked the menu and the price, well I was right. You may think it is overpriced but damn, the cheese and spinach inside would make you forget about the price.

Holy Cow (Php 300) Rate: 4/5 |
Holy Cow? Where’s the cow? I mean the meat? The name of this dish confused me. This ultra thin crust pizza is composed of kesong puti, arugula and of course, mozzarella cheese. I love that kesong puti flavor stood out. Go pinoy cheese! 🙂

Spicy Buffalo Wings with Bleu Cheese (Php 380) Rate: 4/5 |
I give a +1 to every restaurant that serves buffalo wings, another +.5 for being spicy. What’s distinct about their buffalo wings? Well, nothing really. It just met my expectations for simply being mouthwatering.
|
Winebar Burger (Php 410) Rate: 4/5 |
Wow! Don’t you just find their burger so mouthwatering? Especially that bone marrow, where you usually find in beef bulalo soup. Thick slices of potato wedges were actually forgotten while eating that delectable piece of burger.
|
Spicy Spaghetti (Php 350) Rate: 4/5 |
Total flavor may taste slightly spicy yet I think I could finish one serving if this is the only dish we ordered. One of the dishes I’ll order again in Cafe 1771 Winebar.
|
Lacquered Salmon (Php 580) Rate: 4/5 |
I strongly suggest their salmon dish, especially to pescatarians out there. Juicy meat accompanied with its sweet flavored sauce. Salmon was cooked perfectly fine.
|
Grilled Angus Striploin (Php 1,400) Rate: 4/5 |
Medium rare was exactly how I wanted my steak to be grilled. Normally, I choose ‘well done’ for my steak. For that night, I think the mood of changing my normal choice happened. No regrets, the angus strip-loin was succulent.
|
Lamb Shoulder Chops Rate: 3/5 |
Their lamb chops didn’t stand out for me. Maybe because I didn’t like the presentation. Although when it comes to evaluating the taste, the lamb chops alone were chewy, soft and nummy.
|
Rose Noire (Php 250) Rate: 5/5 |
Restaurant 101 has a similar version, which is a remarkable cake for me, called
Louis XV. Hazelnut, an all-time favorite for me. I appreciate almost all desserts that have the hazelnut taste on it. In addition to that, I see Ferrero Rocher chocolate as an inspiration of this cake.
|
Monroe Bread Pudding (Php 250) Rate: 5/5 |
A foodie favorite! Brioche-type bread that is baked in custard with butter and real vanilla bean. The warm pudding plus cold ice cream lets your tongue have a variety.
|
Coffee Pie (Php 220) Rate: 4/5 |
A cup of coffee plus Coffee Pie in the morning may seem to be a suitable combination. You just gained yourself a pack of caffeine to boost your morning and start your day.
Did I tell you that I love pretty chandeliers? If I did, just want to reiterate that I really do love ‘em. I see myself hanging out in this type of ambience with great comfort food, pretty friends and pretty chandeliers. Hehe.
I know you noticed that the price may not seem friendly for all. That was the same comment I had while checking their menu. Although with the kind of classy delectable dishes they serve, it’s an option to celebrate a particular occasion with your family or friends. The satisfaction your appetite can get is without a doubt terrific.
Pray, Eat and Love.
Cheers,
